Baiting
It is what it is
One of the most frustrating behaviors I encounter - right next to dealing with flying monkeys - is when a narcissist deliberately says something designed to provoke an emotional reaction. It’s like they’re aiming straight for your emotional triggers, making it nearly impossible not to respond.
And when you do react, they immediately flip the script, looking at you with disdain and accusing you of being "too sensitive," "angry," "crazy," or whatever insult they can hurl at you to deflect from their own behavior. The irony is that they initiated the whole thing, yet they’ll never admit it. Accountability is their kryptonite, after all.
This kind of behavior is often overlooked or excused as part of narcissism being a “harmless” mental illness. But let’s be real - these people know exactly what they’re doing. It’s all intentional. They thrive on manipulating others and playing childish mind games to feel a fleeting sense of importance.
Maybe I’m just different, but I refuse to excuse people who deliberately mess with others’ minds. That’s not just narcissism - it’s toxic, and it’s intentional.
